Three Moves for Better Sleep

Yoga can be done by anyone, anytime and just about anywhere. Here are two positions that can be done regardless of experience and fitness level for almost immediate results in lowering stress and promoting sleep:
  1. Yoga pose Uttanasana, or Standing Forward Bend, can do wonders to calm the mind. Any yoga poses and moves that involve a forward fold (as opposed to a back bend) are calming for the nervous system and great for sleep wellness.
  2. The butterfly stretch is great for bedtime prep. Any stretch that opens and releases the most-stressed joints can promote sleep. Hips and back are the most common “problem” areas due to sitting or lifting work.
  3. The supine twist does double duty to twist out aches and pains from sitting or walking as well as a gentle massage for your internal digestive organs.
